Senior Traffic & Detour Engineer

ARX is recruiting a Senior Traffic & Detour Engineer to support the delivery of major PMC road and infrastructure projects within Riyadh. This role is ideal for a senior professional with strong experience in traffic engineering, traffic management plans (TMPs), and temporary detour schemes within a PMC/consultancy environment. You will act as the technical authority for traffic management and detour strategies across multiple corridors and packages, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient traffic operations during construction phases.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership for traffic engineering and detour scope across the program.
• Review and endorse Traffic Management Plans (TMPs), detour layouts, staging plans, and traffic impact assessments.
• Ensure compliance with MOT guidelines, local authority requirements, and international traffic engineering standards.
• Oversee implementation of temporary traffic diversions, road closures, and phasing strategies.
• Coordinate with road, ITS, utilities, and civil teams to ensure constructability and minimal traffic disruption.
• Lead resolution of RFIs, site constraints, traffic conflicts, and safety-related issues.
• Review signage, pavement markings, barriers, signal modifications, and temporary ITS elements.
• Monitor contractor performance related to traffic control measures and public safety compliance.
• Liaise with authorities and stakeholders to secure approvals for traffic staging and detour plans.
• Support incident management planning and ensure emergency access is maintained at all times. Mentor engineers and ensure consistency in traffic management delivery across packages.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in traffic engineering and temporary traffic management for major road/highway projects.
• Strong experience in preparing and reviewing Traffic Management Plans and detour schemes.
• Proven experience in design review, construction supervision, and PMC environments.
• Familiarity with Saudi MOT standards and traffic authority approval processes.
• Strong analytical, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in traffic analysis tools (e.g., Synchro, SIDRA, VISSIM, or similar).
• English required (Arabic is an advantage).
