Track & Alignment Lead
The ideal candidate will cover a technical and production management role for Track & Alignment (Permanent Way), reporting directly to the UAE General Manager / Technical Director (as applicable). The role requires strong capability in leading end-to-end track and alignment design delivery, including interface coordination with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and third parties. The candidate will be expected to drive quality, programme compliance, and client confidence while developing and managing the local production team to support current and future project needs.
Responsibilities:
- Lead technical production related to Track & Alignment disciplines
- Lead track and alignment design delivery across project stages (concept to detailed design), including horizontal/vertical alignment, track geometry, cross-sections, clearances, turnouts/switches and yard layouts.
- Lead design coordination with civil/structures/stations/depot/OCS/signalling/utilities to ensure complete interface closure and constructable solutions.
- Provide discipline technical governance: standards compliance, internal checks/reviews, and submission readiness.
- Manage and develop the local delivery team
- Hire, mentor and manage track/alignment engineers and CAD/BIM technicians/draftsmen.
- Plan resources and oversee production quality, productivity, and deadlines in a multi-project environment.
- Support bids and growth
- Participate in bid estimate and strategy: scope definition, methodology, programme inputs, resourcing, deliverables, assumptions and risk identification.
- Support development of the Company's local production capacity (templates, tools, checking processes, lessons learned).
- Client and stakeholder management
- Participate in client relationship activities across projects, lead discipline meetings and present solutions clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Coordinate with authorities/operators and respond to technical clarifications and design comments efficiently.
- Quality, review and assurance
- Ensure QA/QC procedures are followed prior to submissions and that interdisciplinary coordination is completed.
- Lead internal reviews / independent checks for track deliverables where required (construction documents, tender documentation, design packages, as applicable).
Competencies:
- Technical
- Strong capability in track geometry development, switch/turnout layouts, yard/depot track planning, and track renewal/upgrade design.
- Solid understanding of design deliverables across the lifecycle (railway plans, tender/construction documentation, reviews of execution packages).
- Strong coordination and interface management across multiple disciplines and stakeholders.
- Leadership / Delivery
- Proven team leadership and production management experience (planning, delegation, checking, on-time submissions).
- Strong ability to meet deadlines, manage time efficiently, and handle multiple priorities.
- Client-facing confidence, professional attitude, and strong collaboration skills.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering / Railway Engineering (or similar). A railway-focused qualification is an advantage.
- 10–15 years of experience in rail infrastructure with strong exposure to track design / permanent way / alignment.
- Minimum 5 years current/recent exposure to the KSA / MENA market (engineering consultancy or major contractor environment).
- Demonstrated experience as a discipline lead responsible for production delivery, planning, and review.
- Track design and rail CAD tools (e.g., Bentley MicroStation / Power Rail Track / ProjectWise, AutoCAD). (preferred)
- BIM/CAD coordination tools as required for multidisciplinary delivery (AutoCAD/Revit exposure is an advantage) (preferred).
Additional Advantage
- Experience in technical review / independent checking of track deliverables.
- Experience on metro/rail projects involving capacity upgrades, depot layouts, and complex brownfield interfaces.
